19 AR step up action in Tirap, nab suspected Rajkumar’s killer
ITANAGAR, Feb 7: 19 Assam Rifles which has launched a major offensive against the underground elements in Tirap district apprehended Self Styled Sergeant Major Ramchang of NSCN (IM) in a joint operation with Dist Police Khonsa today,
According to sources, Ramchang is one of the suspects named by Arunachal Pradesh Police in the assassination of former MP Wangcha Rajkumar in 2007. The assassination case is being handled by CBI.

The cadre will be handed over to CBI for further investigation, added the sources.
The unit had intensified efforts to seize him because of his involvement in the brutal assassination.
The cadre has admitted in the interrogation that he is a Sergeant Major operating
in Tirap since Sep 2007 and apart from the reported involvement in Wangcha Raj-
Thorough search of the cadre and his belongings lead to recovery of 200 grams of opium, 13 tablets of proxyvon (banned drug) and eight recharge coupons of BSNL and Airtel respectively. One motor cycle was also recovered nearby which was being used by the cadre.
After a detailed interrogation by a joint team of AR and District Police; the cadre and all items recovered along with motorcycle were handed over to the police.
The arrest comes within 72 hours of apprehension of SS Captain Angam NSCN (IM), Khonsa town Commander.

Social activist cum doctor awarded
ITANAGAR, Feb 07: The All India Business Development Association (AIBDA) under the aegis of Global Society for Health and Economic Growth conferred the prestigious Bharatiya Vikas Ratna Award to Dr. Gayetri Gogoi recently in recognition of her meritorious services in the fields of health and economic growth of the society recently.
The Kazakhstan envoy to India presented the Award to Dr. Gayetri in the presence of former Chief Election Commissioner Dr. GVG Krishnamurthy, All India Congress Committee General Secretary Maj.Vedprakash and a host of other eminent personalities of the country.
Dr. Gogoi, who is a social activist cum writer, is also serving as a doctor in the Department of Pathology in the Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) Dibrugarh. Dr. Gogoi is also the honorary Nodal Officer of the Prayas Janahit Swasthya Seva Kendra in Wakro of the Lohit district which is managing a Primary Health Centre (PHC) under the Public Private Partnership program of the National Rural Health Mission in Arunachal Pradesh. Dr. Gogoi was appointed as Zonal Advisor for the North East for the world’s biggest UNICEF sponsored study on “Child Abuse 2007” conducted by the Ministry of Woman and Child Development, Government of India.
